Julia Fixsen RTC
Julia Fixsen is a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor who specializes in Somatic Counselling. She offers a warm, compassionate and grounding presence where clients can explore their emotional and physical experiences. Her work centers on helping individuals reconnect with their bodies, emotions and inner wisdom. At the heart of Julia’s approach is the belief that the body holds both our wounds and our
wisdom. When people experience trauma, stress and overwhelming emotions, they often disconnect from their bodies as a survival strategy. Through somatic work, Julia helps clients gently rebuild this connection, learning to listen to the body’s signals with compassion rather than fear. She honors the connection between body, mind, and spirit, and supports clients in reconnecting with their intuition, truth and sense of self. Julia works with people who feel overwhelmed, burnt out, anxious, depressed, or disconnected from themselves. Many of her clients arrive feeling “not enough,” exhausted by life’s demands, or unsure how to navigate emotional pain, trauma, chronic stress, or spiritual transition. She also supports individuals facing chronic illness, caregiver burnout, relational strain, and those seeking relief from long-held body shame. Julia’s approach is holistic and integrative, combining traditional counselling with somatic, spiritual and mindfulness-based practices. Julia blends a range of modalities including Somatic Experiencing, Brain spotting, Attachment Therapy, Guided Imagery, and DBT, Spiritual Counselling, and Mindfulness. She also has training as a Meditation teacher, Hypnotherapist, Coach and many other continuing education courses. Her path into somatic counselling is rooted in her own lived experience. Having navigated trauma, disconnection and burnout herself, Julia discovered that the most profound healing came through embodied practices, mindful awareness and compassionate self- inquiry. Her personal journey informs her beliefs that healing is not only possible, It is powerful, sacred and deeply transformative. When Julia is not in the office, she is in nature, spending time with her family and always has a creative project on the go.

Somatic Counselling - In Person with Julia Fixsen RTC - 60 minutes
Somatic Counselling: Somatic Counselling is a body-based, trauma informed approach to counselling that helps you understand your nervous system and how past experiences show up in your body and in your relationships today. Somatic Therapy combines talk therapy, guided imagery, tracking body sensations, mindfulness, guided movement practices, and breathwork. In our sessions, we gently explore what’s happening in your body - physical sensations, tension, impulses, and stress responses - while also noticing how these patterns arise and affect your relationships, communication, and your sense of belonging. Through attuned connection, grounded practices and somatic techniques, you learn to feel more regulated, present and connected with yourself and others. Clients can learn how to identify their protective patterns, develop increased tolerance for sensation and emotion and build internal resources to support regulation and resilience.
