Jacob believes that injuries and pain are a natural consequence of life, which create opportunities for change. He believes our behavior in response to pain ultimately shapes our outcome. When we have an issue with our tissues, it’s because of a decreased local ecology in some parts of the body: usually involving excessive inflammation, insufficient functional capacity, and insufficient nutrition. His goal as a massage therapist is to help you overcome these problems by providing manual techniques to reduce your discomfort as well as effective tools and educational resources to empower you in the process of building resiliency. He is practiced in myofascial release, Swedish deep tissue massage, neuromuscular techniques, active and passive stretching, and joint mobilization. A typical session includes a combination of these techniques aimed at addressing your specific complaint(s). Home care exercises will be provided, intended to improve specific functional capacities, and consist of select effective and sustainable practices to incorporate into your life 10-30 minutes a day.
Jacob’s higher education began in 2012 at UBC with a bachelors degree in biology. In 2015 he completed a 200hr yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, India, and while he was there decided to forgo the pursuit of a career in science. At the time he had been recovering from bilateral meniscus injuries and found a calling for guiding others through the process of physical rehabilitation. He completed his study of massage therapy at Langara College in 2018 and has since continued to develop his toolkit and approach to treatment. Currently, he studies under the guidance of Ido Portal and his team, constantly learning and practicing a diverse physical education.

It wasn’t long after Sarah first started seeing a massage therapist before she knew that massage therapy was the career for her. Her massage therapist not only treated her symptoms, but also took the time to learn more about Sarah, her habits and history to try to figure out the root cause. Her RMT explained how the biomechanics worked and that appealed to her engineering background. She also taught her preventative measures and home care to maximize the effectiveness of the treatment and to minimize the chances of re-injury. That is the type of massage therapist Sarah strives to be.
Sarah is a graduate of the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in Cambridge, Ontario with continuing education in manual lymphatic drainage and pre/post-natal care.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys rock climbing, hiking, CrossFit and yoga.
Outside of massage, Jeff enjoys cycling the seawall, weight training, playing music and a weekly trivia night. “I look forward to meeting you and working together.”
I have been practicing since 2016, graduating from the inaugural Registered Massage Therapy program at Langara college in December 2015.
I enjoy working with a diverse patient population. I apply a variety of methods to help treat my clients including: soft tissue manipulation, myofascial techniques, as well as traditional Swedish massage.
I will work with each person to treat their tension and discomforts. I strongly believe in the practice of massage therapy as a means of helping the body recover and stay healthy. I am grateful to be able to help my clients, and better the health of the Mount Pleasant community.
Stephanie does not bill directly with ICBC or MSP.
He has experience working with patients with Multiple Sclerosis, Spinal cord injuries and musculoskeletal injuries and uses a variety of manual therapy modalities that range from Swedish to myofascial and joint mobilization techniques. His ultimate aim is to work with his patients to create a goal that they can work towards to feel happier and healthier by getting back to what they love to do. To accomplish that Tyler completes assessments as part of each treatment to customize every massage to each patients individual needs.
In his spare time Tyler enjoys getting outdoors; jogging, hiking, snowshoeing or canoeing; and has recently acquired a new interest in cooking and loves experimenting with new recipes, especially if it involves using his cast iron skillet. Tyler enjoys watching films and is ashamed to admit that he probably spends a tad too much time on Netflix (but only on rainy days).

I have been practicing for over 15 years now in the Mount Pleasant community. I worked previously at the Massage and Therapy Center and Brentwood Chiropractic and Sports Rehab Center. I graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2005.
I enjoy what I do because each person is different and I use my knowledge to help each one. I use a variety of techniques which I tailor to treat each person to how I think they can improve. From myofascial release, deep tissue, structural balancing and mobilizations, I will try to unwind tension and imbalances one may be experiencing. Heather Brown, R.Ac., is a graduate of the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
I have been practising acupuncture for several years in the neighbourhood, and I am very happy to join the Mt. Pleasant Massage Therapy team!
I grew up in Powell River, on the B.C. coast. The original peoples of the Tla'amin Nation, as well as many other residents from a variety of ethnic backgrounds, had a profound impact on my life. The biggest lesson being that there are many ways to relate to the natural world, as well as to each other. I am deeply grateful to them all.
I have a strong interest in the relationship between psychological and physical ailments, within the framework of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I have seen my own health improve from regular acupuncture, healthy diet, and exercise.
TCM views mental and physical health as intrinsically connected, and acupuncture can treat both simultaneously.
Working with my patients to achieve their health goals and to have a happy life, brings me great joy.
